of hauls and freebies

over the past several weeks, i bought a variety of stuff and acquired some for free. :-D

first item is a Beach Hut Clear Sunscreen Spray.

i bought this about over a month ago because the family went swimming in Laguna. the reason i bought this is because it's proudly Filipino made. :-)

this sunblock also has lots of advantages over its competitors as it's:
a) clear (not like those white lotion formula)
b) in spray form (easier to apply and not messy/sticky/greasy at all)
c) has spf 36
d) UVA/UVB protection
e) price is reasonable

if you are considering buying a sunblock why not check this out? :-) i bought mine at Rustan's supermarket but i suppose it is available at other department stores and drug stores. not sure though if they market outside of Philippines.

next item is St. ives Mud Miracle.

i was on a hunt for a good conditioner since i can't seem to find Opal Coconut Hot Oil with Aloe Vera anywhere when i saw this GT highly raved conditioner at Cash and Carry supermarket in Makati.

i must say it tames unruly hair although i am not sure about strengthening my hair. the amount of hair i loss on a daily basis is pretty much the same. :-( i don't like the smell as well - smells like old lady perfume, which bugs me everytime i use it. i'd have to use it all up to know the real deal.

this item i've been searching everywhere and just chanced upon at Daiso, a japanese home centre store that sells everything in it for S$2 - a mascara guard. i don't really know how this thing should suppose to work in detail but i know that it's suppose to help you apply mascara easily and avoid smudging it onto your skin.

have yet to use it so i'll feedback on that when i do.

i also finally exchanged my 18 MAC containers for 3 MAC lipsticks. i was initially thinking of getting A Rose Romance, Bubbles and Impassioned but the SA told me that their store can only let me choose on permanent colors. :-( so i swatched all colors that caught my eye and i settled for Bombshell, Politely Pink and Fresh Brew.

i haven't tried any of them yet, will supply swatches later.

my Lumiere prebuy brushes - angled duo fiber, duo fiber, large flat top and long handled kabuki - also came a few days before i left for Singapore and i was elated upon opening the package! i regret not hoarding a lot as i thought i will be taxed if my orders exceed US$50! Lumiere didn't declare the exact amount of the brushes and if i got more i probably could've gotten away with paying the taxes. *sigh* oh well, at least i have one each of what i like. :-D

on a side note, i'd like to shout out "Whoop, whoop!" to USPS for using recycled paper! ;) save Mother Earth indeed!

i've washed them before using them and there was no shedding on any of the brushes. there was also no bleeding during washing but minimal bleeding when drying off excess water with cloth prior to air drying. they are all soft and dense. they also came with brush covers which are good for travelling and sanitary purposes. the most important and exciting part about them is that they were totally cheap yet great value for money.

i know for sure i will join their prebuy if they hold another one!

lastly, the hubby bought me (after nagging him LOL) a Ralph Lauren Romance (summer edition) supposedly his gift for our 11th year bf-gf anniversary last 30th April and Mother's Day as well. got it for S$119 and the SA gave me the bath & shower gel and body moisturizer as freebies.

i am totally in love with fragrances like this, very romantic indeed. i am into perfumes like this, not the citrusy or flowery ones (like Victoria Secret, which my SIL loves). the very first perfume i fell in love with is Moschino Couture and i love it still. :-D

i actually want to hoard a lot more but since it's recession and the hubby and i are both unemployed currently, that is not a wise option. i've been meaning to get Milani runway eyeshadows and blushes as they are available here as well as some neutral MAC eyeshadows but i'm dreaming about them for now hehe. we'll see. i hope i land on a job soon. wish me luck and please pray for me!

thanks a lot to Kristine of A Piece of My Mind and Gracie of Glitz and Glamour for nominating me for this award!

i never knew i could make friends just by expressing my thoughts on what most people will think is superficial - makeup. although my aim is to inspire ladies to embrace their inner beauty with a little help from makeup, it has inspired me a lot more knowing that i made friends with these fellow beauty bloggers that love me back. :-)

The rules are:
1. Take your award here.
2. Put the logo on your post.
3. Link the person who awarded you.
4. Nominate at least 7 other bloggers.
5. Add the links of those bloggers on yours.
6. Leave a message for your nominees.

My nominees are...

Mafie - my closest blogger friend! she's the very first blogger friend and makeup (MAC to be exact) addict fellow that i've grown close with. i miss seeing her since i left my work where her work is based as well, but as she is Singapore right now i suppose we can meet up soon! :-D i miss you sis!

Chloe - she has not only shared my passion with MAC and MMU but we also talked and shared points of views and experiences extensively about motherhood! :-D i am also very proud of her achievements as she took up a stay-at-home job while still being a full-time mom. Way to go Chloe! miss chatting with you, i've been MIA in YM for a while huh? :-D

Liz - she is the sexiest, prettiest and sweetest blogger friend i've met! :-D oh, she's also successful and very determined to excel in all form of arts she gets her hands on, with what a few of them being makeup, hairstyling, photography and i'm sure she's planning on a lot more lol. she's also very humble as all of these achievements still makes her feet very much planted on the ground. love this girl!

Nikki - she was with me during one of my darkest moments and told me things i need to realize. even without meeting her, i know she has a good soul and i have a true friend in her. it's so funny we've been trying to meet for months but our schedule won't let us lol. hope to see you soon sis! mwah! you know i love you. hehe.

Jheng - i love this girl's honesty! she tells it like it so and she is not ashamed to do that. you go girl! she also gave me strength when i needed it most. i also have yet to meet her but i know she'll make me comfy at once and probably make me laugh to death lol. she's witty, funny and lovable. thanks for being there dear! *hugs*

Mel - i've grown close with her because of our passion for nail polishes. she's very generous with her advice and thoughts on what she likes. she's also very sweet and it's so easy to get along with her. she wants to meet up too and i hope when i get back sis we finally can!

Gracie - even though we may not communicate as much, i feel that she is a totally sweet and honest person. what's more admirable is that she's a great mom as well and a superb nurse. i hope we can meet when you come to Manila or by any chance i fly to London?! haha that's me wishful thinking lol.

Nessa - i don't know if she still remembers me (what with all her fans hehe) but she is one of the makeup bloggers who inspired me to put up my own beauty blog. i also love that she doesn't take advantage of people who wants to try beauty products from US as she randomly sells them at very reasonable prices. she does this for her love of makeup which unfortunately some people didn't appreciate it and even criticized her for it. :-( but for me Nessa, i will forever love your blog, your advices and you as you. :-)

Shen - this girl has lots of courage, wit and sweetness! she's also a fellow MAC addict and always has a smile on her face. i never had a meeting with her when i don't feel comfortable, she's very hospitable and approachable. miss being with you sis! :-)

Aileen - alas, one of my gurus lol. she doesn't hesitate to share her thoughts on makeup, with what's new and how she does her beauty routines. i deeply respect her opinion and admires her amicable attitude. conversation with her is always pleasant, i wish to see her in person too! :-)

i actually want to add a whole lot more people but i believe that you all know i love you - for accepting me as i am, for letting me be on my blog, for following me in good times and bad times, for just being yourselves as well. so let's build a larger circle of friends by encouraging each other more and telling our friends about us! :-D

Happy Mother's Day!

wow i know i am super duper late haha but let me greet all you beautiful mothers out there a...

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

the flower (i don't know for sure if it's a carnation LOL but i prefer it over rose as this one doesn't have a distinct smell unlike rose which i totally hate) was given to me by the celebrating priest of Cathedral of Good Sheperd (right in front of Chijmes) together with all other mothers who attended the 6pm mass. i thought it was very thoughtful of them to do that! he asked us to gather round the altar then blessed us with holy water and handed over flowers one by one. i think the old priest was very humble and sweet for him to do that, i like him. :-D it could be cheesy to others but i really felt appreciated. ^_^ btw, it was long-stemmed but my kids, Margaux and Malcolm, took turns tossing it to each other that it eventually became as what it looks like LOL.

healthy neutral look

it's been a while since i plastered my face all over my blog hee hee so just thought i'd finally upload the neutral look i wore for Sunday mass a few weeks back in Manila.

Face:
L'egere BB cream
Joppa Medium Light #3 Full Coverage foundation
MAC Blonde MSF

Eyes:
MAC Soft Ochre p/p
MAC Royal Assets Warm Eyes Nobility e/s - all over lid
MAC Fascinating Ruby Smokey Eyes Dark Devotion e/s - outer v and crease
MAC Royal Assets Warm Eyes Restrospeck e/s - highlight
MAC Dipdown f/l - upper lashline
Avon Glimmersticks Cosmic Brown e/l - waterline
Majorlica Majorca Lash Bone
L'Oreal Telescopic Clean mascara

Cheeks:
MAC Dollymix

Lips:
MAC Lip Conditioner
MAC All's Fair l/s

one thing about neutral looks is that usually cheeks are neutral as well, using either a bronzer or deep orange blushes but personally, i love to liven up any look with healthy-looking, pinkish cheeks. brownish/orangey blushes tend to look muddy on me, must be my skintone. anyhow, if anyone likes to tone this down further a less bright pink will do like MAC True Romantic beauty powder perhaps.

nowadays i don't wear any makeup at all when going out 'cause my hubby doesn't have the patience to wait for me to finish up LOL. i'd probably have tons of FOTD once i return to Manila hee hee. also, i'd like to let you know that for those who didn't win my contest last time don't fret as May is my favorite month of all because it's my birth month! i'll hold another contest so watch out for that. and this time i'd try my very best to open it for international readers! :-) and oh, take note of every entry i'll post 'cause the answers will be there! *hint hint*

the hubby is out on a basketball game with his colleagues so i better get on with those scheduled posts! who knows i might have enough time to make a video. :-D
